Atari Teenage Riot - Live at Brixton Academy 1999
The last ATR show which was recorded - the band, completely burnt out from years of touring,
plays a confrontational noise only show in front of 5000 people -
the record and the show created controversy amongst ATR fans. Alec Empire: "The opinion of the concert was divided… some just couldn't get enough of it, others hated us... On our way to the taxi afterwards a few kids threw their ripped up ATR T-shirts down on the ground in front of us... "
A noise record, not a conventional ATR release, ATR Live in Brixton clearly shows how the band have been influenced by the modern classical exponents like Cage and Stockhausen through to Japanese noise specialists like Merzbow and Masonna.
You have been warned.
